Through Their Eyes...
A Photography Project Like No Other

Through Their Eyes is a photography project designed to show the world cultures they have not seen before in a new and unique way. The goal is to travel to some of the most remote and needy parts of the world to bring back images that will tell the story of a forgotten society using young people from this culture as the photographers. These will be places without electricity and with no media contact at all. We want to find people that have never seen or even know what a camera is.
We will take world renown professional photographers to remote locations for these assignments. When we arrive we will each be assigned a young person from this culture to mentor. The photographers will spend several days with their students teaching them how to take pictures with point and shoot digital cameras. The goal is to get them beyond the fascination of taking pictures and get them to shoot photos with purpose and meaning behind them; to get a glimpse of their society and culture through pictures; to show what they think is beautiful, fun, ugly, sad, tragic, and majestic. We want these young photographers to give us a snapshot of their world as they see it. We will spend our days shooting alongside the young people we are mentoring, and spend our evenings gathered around laptops sharing pictures and learning from each other.
After spending several days with the students, the photographers will leave, but the students will keep their cameras for an extended period of time and will continue shooting on their own. They will be supervised by local workers from Global Hope that will help to keep them on track.
At the end of the extended shooting period, all of the images shot by the students will be sent back to the mentor photographers who will edit and process the images from their student, and turn them into fine art images. These images will ultimately be used for a traveling gallery exhibit and a coffee table photo book that will tell their story.
We will seek national media coverage for this project and even hope to have a documentary film made of the project as it happens.
Our hope is to provide maximum exposure for those in the most need in this world in a way that communicates the uniqueness of their culture. We want to create a platform to get much needed financial help to the people we work with.
I will be donating all of the time that I spend on the Through Their Eyes project, but there are still many financial needs and opportunities for others to partner with me.
Donations for Through Their Eyes are being accepted and are tax deductible. You can get more details on the ’ÄúDonations Here’Äù page or You can make donations by Clicking here.
